Europe is surrounded on three sides by the Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.  The other major forms of physical geography in Europe are shown below with brief explanation.

Alps Mountain Range – Mt. Blanc, French for "white mountain," is the highest mountain in the Alps at 4,807 meters.
Baltic Sea – The Baltic Sea is located mostly from Germany and Denmark up to Norway, Sweden and Finland.  The Baltic Sea has a reputation for being relatively shallow in some places, particularly between Denmark and Sweden.
Danube River – The Danube River is the second longest river in Europe.  The source of the Danube River is the Black Forest of Germany.  It flows through ten countries on its way to the Black Sea.  It is widely considered to be the most important river in Europe.
Elbe River – The Elbe River begins in the mountains of the Czech Republic then flows through Germany on its way to the North Sea.
English Channel – The United Kingdom and France are separated by the English Channel.
Jutland Peninsula – Denmark is located on the Jutland Peninsula.
Lake Constance – Lake Constance is filled by the Rhine River as it passes through Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.
North Sea – The North Sea is located mostly between the United Kingdom and Norway.  The North Sea contains oil and natural gas resources that are important to the economies of the United Kingdom and Norway.
Northern European Plain – The Northern European Plain stretches from France to Ural Mountains of Russia.
Rhine River – The Rhine begins in the Alps of Switzerland and flows to the Netherlands where it drains into the North Sea.
Seine River – The Seine is a major river that flows through Paris on its way to the English Channel.
Thames River – The Thames is the major river of the United Kingdom.  It flows through London its way to the English Channel.
Vistula River – The Vistula flows only through Poland on its way to the Baltic Sea.
Vistula River Delta – The Vistula River Delta is located at the mouth of the Vistula River.
Volga River - The Volga River is located in Russia and is the longest river in Europe.
